On Glavni trg in Vipava stands NLS monument, which was made according to the plans of Jože Plečnik. Monument was uncovered in year 1952. Cubic concrete pedestal stands on a landing from granitic cubes. On the pedestal is positioned the base with the column, where are installed cuboids with inscriptions. On the top stands a capital from four massive vine leafs with grapes. Monument is surrounded by four cylindrical troughs for flowers. By judgement of some critics the monuments belongs among the most interesting monuments designed by Plečnik. By production of the monument Plečnik looked up to the future, not on the past and wanted to make something new.
