
After the completion of Novi grad in year 1702, count Lanthieri started to arrange a castle park. Baroque park lies near Lanthieri mansion, which stand at the spring of river Vipava, on southern edge of the old part of the city in Vipava valley. Lanthieri park in Vipava was created in year 1762. Entrance gates were facing the portal of the mansion and were consisted of four iron-enginereed wings. Today, they are restored in are staning on the same place. At the entrance, there once were two lions on stands, made out of stone, guarding the entrance to the park.

The garden, set in the axis of the portal of the mansion, was originally fenced and parterre designed. It was divided on twelve fields: in the middle of the path stood a stone fountain in the form of dates, with unpreserved statue putta on the top. On the grassy areas of the park, they distributed large number of stone statues, putti, which were with different attributes (plants, animals, armorial cartridges) symbolized abundance, fertility and seasons. In 19th century, the park was freely transformed, after WWII its fence was knocked down and on the north-west side built new road. In year 1963, they transferred all 25 statues of putti from the park to the edge of the market and formed them up in straight line. Now, significantly reduced garden has the role of the city park.
