Monument to the fallen fighters of III. battalion of Gradnikova brigade was uncovered on September 21st 1980. Monument is composed from two rocks – on the first, front, rock is attached bronze plaque with inscription and contour of Partisans on the march; on the second, back, rock a bronze star is attached. Monument was made by architect Nande Rupnik in year 1980. It was erected east from the cottage on Javornik.

On Javornik Italians otherwise did not built forts, as it is seen on other peaks along the border. But here they directed military road, and in spite of this they did not built a military outpost. Top of Javornik enrolled in history of NLS. As farms of this lonely slope offered safe shelter to fighters of National liberation army (NLA). But they were betrayed, this traitor was not local. Due to his credit on Javornik 47 fighters of NLA lost their lives. Germans attacked III. battalion of Gradnikove brigade on December 23rd 1943, which had, the day before,  accommodated in homestead at Skvarč. In this unequal struggle 47 fighters lost their lives, among them also four members of the Skvarč family. After the fight Germans burned the homestead down.

In year 1979 was for the first time organised memorial march on Javornik in memory of the fallen, on a Sunday in December, which was the closest to that tragic date.
