Church of St. Jedrt is located below the top of elevation Korada, on altitude 809 meters. It is a branch of church St. Genderce (Gertrude, Jedrt, Jerica). The church stands here already from the 16th century. Original church was for the first time mentioned in Gorica land registry in year 1523. In First World War it experienced sad fate, as it was demolished. But later also rebuild on old foundations. In unified floor plan in rectangle caught architecture repeats type of the Istrian Romanesque branches.

Bell tower in front of the church was erected with reconstruction in year 1936, when it was built from ruins from First World War. Church was on September 22nd blessed by Kanal dean, canon Anton Berlot, because after 22. years holly mass was held here again.
By telling of Vipava locals current altar was brought from church St. Mark in Vipava, which was abandoned between wars and after second world war demolished. Altar statue of St. Gendrce is from plaster and 70 centimeters high.
Patroness of church is Saint Jedrt Nivelska, abbess, whose name day celebration is on March 17th. In Slovenian she has 17 churches. She is patroness of gardeners and farm works, and also against chills and brain diseases. She is indicated by abbot rod and dark monastic cloths. Inscription on the local bell from year 1993 reads:

Centuries here on Korada I reign
In heart I combine north and south

Korada
Korada is an elevation, which name is derived from the word korajduc, old Slovenian name for limestone. From the top it offers an excellent view on hills above river Soča, Gorica plane, in the back also Adriatic sea. We can also see the mountains Triglav, Jalovec, Krn, Kanin, Matajur. [_Read more_]
