
Rašica is 647 meters high outlier above the village holding the same name and lies on the north part of the Ljubljana field. Ascent Rašica is combined from three peaks, along the most known Vrh Staneta Kosca, are on western slope Mali vrh (482 meters) and Veliki vrh (568 meters). At the peak Vrh Staneta Kosca is 17 meters high lookout tower, which was erected in year 1957 in memory of establishment of Kamnik battalion. From the tower beautiful view opens on Ljubljana basin and surrounding hills and mountains. For their ascent visitors usually chose for the path, which starts in village Rašica.
Outlier Rašica is located on western side of Kamnik-Bistrica ravine, compound from Triassic limestone and dolomite. The hill is covered with mixed forest. On the northern side are interesting high Douglas fir, north-american conifers, which were in the past planted by the owners of castle Jablje. Slightly lower, in the vicinity of village Rašica, we find grass meadows, which are used as pastures. Next to the slope of the hill there are many remains of wetlands, therefore on almost all sides of the outlier are marshy. On the area of wetlands we can find the protected plant Lady’s Slipper Orchid.

Rašica
Rašica is a smaller clustered settlement in Municipality Ljubljana, it is located on sunny slope of the same name hill. On the hill is the peek of Stane Kosec on the altitude of 641 meters, where they in year 1957 erected a lookout tower. Rašica is the first Slovenian village that was burned down. [_Read more_]
