SHORT HISTORY

Plužna was named already in the land register in year 1257, which means, that the settlement belongs among oldest of the Bovec settlements. By Marušič the village was for the first time mentioned in year 1285, which is eleven years after mentioning of Bovec and at the same time as Srpenica. In this also reflects the meaning of that time position of Pluže, on sunny side and enough spacious land under Kanin mountain chain. In time of WWI the settlement had the same fate as many other settlements on Bovec‘s end. On May 14th 1915 at the church, the residents were informed, that they must leave the village today. Residents took with them only cows, sheep and pigs were the loot of the Italian army. In time of Soška front the village was completely destroyed. Then the Italian army in wider area of the village erected barracks, later also a smaller hospital and military cemetery.
