
Korada is an elevation, which name is derived from the word korajduc, old Slovenian name for limestone. From the top it offers an excellent view on hills above river Soča, Gorica plane, in the back also Adriatic sea. We can also see the mountains Triglav, Jalovec, Krn, Kanin, Matajur. At nice weather we can see Julian Alps, Kamnik-Savinja Alps, Golaki, Snežnik, Dolomite and Karnian Alps.
Elevation is the highest part of Brda with an altitude of 812 meters. Locals under the mountain call it also Kobalar, after former homestead of a known farmer Kobalar, there are interesting stories about him. On Kobalar Brda farmers had their own mountain pastures, which they used only for grass cutting, never for grazing. The ascent on Korada offers a beautiful trip in all seasons, the meadows are most of the year full of colorful flowers. Here you can admire meadow plants, which you cannot find almost anywhere else in Brda.
Just a little below the peak lies a mountain hut, which was erected on the foundations of army buildings from First World War. Slightly away from the peak is a smaller church St. Gredence. St. Jedrt (Gredence) is herald of outdoor spring work, and also patroness of the church below the top. Among your ascend we can observe the tracks from First World War, especially caverns. On the top of Korada, next to smaller stone pedestal, is state geodetic point of 0. order.
In times of First World War Korada represented strategic peak, therefore Italian army fortified the peak and used it for observatories and artillery positions.

Church of St. Jedrt
Church of St. Jedrt is located below the top of elevation Korada, on altitude 809 meters. It is a branch of church St. Genderce (Gertrude, Jedrt, Jerica). The church stands here already from the 16th century. Original church was for the first time mentioned in Gorica land registry in year 1523. [_Read more_]
State Geodetic point of 0. order
On the top of Korada one of the Geodetic points of 0. order is located. A pillar on Korada represents the stabilisation of the state Geodetic point of the combined Geodetic network. This network contains six similar points, approximately equally spread around all the territory of the state. [_Read more_]
