Cika cattle
Cika cattle is traditionally bred domestic cattle in Slovenia, which used to be very popular in Gorenjska and Tolmin area. Cika cattle was created with mating native Celtic cattle with breeds Pinzgauer and Bela bulls in second half of 19th century. Color of Cika cattle breed is red with typical white patches. Krškopolje pig
Krškopolje pig is the only preserved Slovenian autochthonous breed of pig. It was created in the (wider) Dolenjska, especially in the valleys, perhaps also in the southern part of Štajerska. Styrian hen
It is our only native autochthonous breed of hen in Slovenia and Austrian Styria. In the distant centuries it has been extended all over Alpine countries – from Danube to the Adriatic Sea and in Pannonian plains. Soča trout
Soča trout is a freshwater fish that lives in the Soča river and its tributaries, that she got name from. It is widespread in the Adriatic basins. Carniola bee
Carniola bee (Carniolan honey bee or the Carniolan) is autochthonous breed of bee that has occured in the territory of Slovenia. It can be found also on wider area of Koroška and Štajerska. It is currently the second most widespread bee breed in the world, which is widely used in beekeeping. [_Read more_]
