Goldhorn fairytale path runs in Ukanc and is a circular path, approximately 2 kilometers long. We can walk along the path for half an hour or an entire day. The entire path is well marked with signposts. The thematic path is fun, educational, and creative and suitable for all ages. The path is open for visitors from May to November. The path will also give you suggestions for family activities in nature, which you can play along the path or somewhere else. The path runs across meadows, along the lake and through the forest, where we meet natural and cultural sights.
According to the legend, the name Ukanc originated from the phrase ”u konc” (en. in the end – in slang) or the end of the world, as people are supposed to believe that the world under nearby Komarča is ending.
Along Goldhorn fairytale path nine heroes from folk fairytales await us, seven in Ukanc, one on Vogel, and one along the path towards waterfall Savica.
Path and activities along the path are designed that they encourage the use of seven senses: sight, hearing, taste, smell, touch, balance, and kinesthetics. On each point, one of the senses is highlighted, but that does not mean you have to use only that one.
We experience different emotions with fairytales, some are pleasant, others a little less, but all are useful and important.
According to Bohinj tradition, from the dust of Goldhorn horns grow yellow healing flowers, and there are many in this place. Together with other natural beauties, they are part of Goldhorn’s treasure.
On Goldhorn fairytale path, at the end of the world, fairytales and Goldhorn’s treasure are at home, as well as wonderful mountains, magical lake, clean waters, green meadows, mighty waterfalls, and fairytale creatures. The path runs under mighty peaks of Pršivec, Komna, and Vogel, and the Goldhorn reigns in these places.
